Uganda is a country in eastern Africa, whose capital is Kampala.
It borders in the north with Sudan, in the east with Kenya,in the south by Tanzania and Rwanda and in the west with the Democratic Republic of Congo.It is landlocked.
The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, which, otherwise, belongs to Kenya and Tanzania.
Uganda is a democratic republic with a non-party political system, currently the head of state is Yoweri Museveni and Prime Minister is Apolo Nsibambi.
It is divided into 4 kingdoms: Buganda, Busoga, Bunyoro and Toro.
The territory of Uganda is characterized by numerous lakes, rivers (the most important of which is the White Nile), equatorial forests and savannas.
In the south it is crossed by the Equator. The total area amounts to 241,038 km ², 36,330 of which are inland.
Much of the country is situated on a plateau about 1000 m climate with a rather rich in rainfall, with only the northern part is semi-arid.
The lowest point of the country is at the lower reaches of the Nile about 610 m while the highest peak is Mount Stanley (5,110 m) in the chain of Ruwenzori.
