Kenya is a country in Eastern Africa, borders in the north with Ethiopia and Sudan,in the south with Tanzania, in the west by Uganda,in the north-east with Somalia and in the east with the Indian Ocean.
The capital is Nairobi.
Although it is an equatorial tropical country,it has very different climates.
It has morphological diversities , in fact in the north there are desert plains instead in the south there are forests and savannas.
The country is crossed by long chains of mountains, the most characteristic is the Rift Valley.
The inland lakes have fresh water and salt water, the geysers are also many.
Onthe coast, over 400 km long, follows a region of arid plains and steppe, and the central one, which rises at an altitude between 1,500 and 3,000 meters, is divided by the fracture of the Rift Valley which is spread from north to south and forms the basin of Lake Turkana (or Rudolph).
At the sides of the Rift Valley massive volcanic massifs heighten, the largest of them is Mount Kenya (5199 m), one of the highest mountains in Africa.
The rivers of Kenya are not impressive, the two main ones, the Tana and Galana, throw in the Indian Ocean and have a system which varies widely during the year, depending on the frequency of rainfall.
The largest lake in the country is the Turkana, because only a small portion of Lake Victoria belong to the territory of Kenya.Lake Turkana has brackish water and many islands emerge.
Kenya has a republican form of government, the current president is Mwai Kibaki.
