LOCAL TRANSPORT

The better means of transport are  the taxi and minivan (these are cheap means , quick and easy to find).

Buses, however, are indicated to move from Yaounde to Douala.

If you are traveling in northern Cameroon you can take the train, quite comfortable, economical and much faster than a car.


ROAD NETWORK

The road network is poor.
Public roads cover a total of 34,300 km, of which only 4.288Km are paved.


AIRPORTS

DOUALA airport
Douala airport is used by airlines for domestic, international and intercontinental flights.

It is one of the largest airports in Africa. You can reach the city by taxi or by minibus.

The main airlines are: Air France, Sabena, Camair, Swiss.

YAOUNDE Airport 
Yaoundé Airport offers domestic flights  in Cameroon, and long haul international flights.

It is both civil and military.

The main airlines are: Air France, Swiss, Brussels Airlines.

PORTS

Main ports: Douala, Kribi, Tiko Limbo.

The port of DOUALA
It is the main port of Cameroon.

It is the main port for exports of timber, cocoa, coffee, bananas, cotton and aluminum.

The port consists of the deep bottoms. In the port there are special facilities for handling timber products, bananas, gasoline as well as fishing facilities.

Also in port, there are several cranes and equipment for loading and unloading goods.

It is located on the banks of the River Wouri, about 24 km upstream of the estuary and about 210 kilometers at the west of Yaounde with road ,rail and air connection with all major cities.

Douala is one of  most important industrial centers. It is home for breweries, food processing plants, and factories that produce palm oil, soap, building materials, plastics, glass, bicycles and paper.

The port is the head office in the country of international trade, and has facilities dedicated to transport of timber, gas, bauxite and bananas.

It contains eleven seats loading berths. Nine berths are dedicated to the movement of goods and offer 58,000 square feet of warehouse.

Additionally, it contains about 380 thousand square meters for storage and eight thousand square feet of space for storage of refrigerated.

For handling of timber it  has plants with 200 thousand square meters of stacking yards.
Finally, it has 2300 meters of quay.

Il porto di KRIBI

Intended to be built at Grand Batanga, 10 km at the south of Kribi, the new "Kribi Deep Seaport" is intended to be a multiform business pole.

It is intended mainly to serve the needs of industrial enterprises, especially those involved in mining and transportation and receipt of heavy equipment.

The port is also used for the import of petroleum products.

In 2012, traffic in the port Kribi should cover 2.9 to 4 million tons. That amount will increase between 4.8 and 10.4 million tons in 2030.

The construction of the Kribi Deep Seaport will be accompanied by other projects including:
- Creation of ground services and the road network in Central Africa, particularly the Ebolowa-Kribi-Sangmélima-Ouesso (Congo Brazzaville) and Sangmélima-Nolakisangani (DRC).
- Creation of rail services.
- Construction of a thermo-electric station which provides power to the port.

HEALTH RISKS

Mandatory vaccinations are those against yellow fever,but we suggest, however,those against the risk of tetanus, diphtheria, typhoid, viral hepatitis A and B, meningitis, rabies and polio.
In Cameroon it is not safe to drink tap water, so it is advisable to drink only bottled water.


TOURISM

Cameroon in the Africa is the country more diverse in terms of natural and cultural heritage.

The tourist attractions are divided into 4 areas: the coast with two major beaches, Limbo and Kribi, large cities  which are characterized by many museums and national monuments, the western highlands, which offer a picturesque mountain scenery, waterfalls and lakes and the northern part of the country characterized mainly by wildlife reserves.


CLIMATE

The climate is tropical. It is wet in the south but gradually drier in the north.

The best time to visit Cameroon is between November and February when the weather is cooler and drier.

About the average of  temperatures,the lowest as 21 ° C are recorded on the plateau, the highest as 31 ° C in the northern region,and  in the south they are about 25 ° C.


LINGUE

The official languages are English and French.


RELIGIONE

The majority of the population is Christian about 53%, 38% is Catholic, 15% Protestant, 22% Muslim and the remaining 15% practice animism..


VISAS


Italian travelers, like those of other countries, must have a visa for entry in Cameroon that depends on the type, and allows a stay ranging from one month to one year and  it is necessary to request it before departure because visas are not issued at the arrival.
