Namibia, officially the Republic of Namibia (Republic of Namibia in English) is a state in South Africa, with capital Windhoek.
It borders in the north with Angola and Zambia in the east by Botswana in the south with South Africa and in the west come forward the Atlantic Ocean.
With a total population of 2,031,000 and a total extension of 825,418 kilometers ², Namibia is the second largest country (after Mongolia) between sovereign nations in the world with lower population density (2.5 inhabitants / km ²).

It is one of the youngest nations in the world having gained independence from South Africa in 1990.
The name of Namibia comes from Namib Desert, a vast area that characterizes much of the country, was chosen as the etymon neutral to avoid disputes between different ethnic groups.

The geography of Namibia is characterized by a series of plateaus, the highest point of which is the Brandberg (2,606 meters). The borders of the country in the north-east delimitate a narrow strip of land known as the Caprivi Finger, which was obtained by the Germans as an outlet to the River Zambezi.
