The ceremony, with a message from the President of the Italian Republic, has been at the Italian Embassy in Moscow

Moscow, 15 October 2009 - The Ambassador of Italy in Russia, Vittorio Surdo,at the presence of numerous Italian and Russian authorities today  has presented to the Honorary President of the Chamber of Commerce Central ItalAfrica Centrale, Cav. Luigi Cremonini ,the Award “Italy in the World 2009”,the Entrepreneurial category.

It is destined to figures from the worlds of culture, art, politics, information and business that have distinguished themselves for doing meaningful activities in the promotion of Italy all over the world. In past editions of the Prize was awarded, among others,to Sergio Pininfarina, Franco Zeffirelli, Luciano Pavarotti and Oscar Niemeyer.

The Award is performed on the initiative of Italy Foundation with the accession of President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano. The President of the Senate, Sen. Renato Schifani, and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Gianfranco Fini, are members of the Honorary Committee of the Award.
The head of state Giorgio Napolitano, in his message said: "This Award is particularly significant because hosted at the headquarters of the Embassy of Italy in Moscow, in confirmation of ancient cultural links and the increasingly economic and trade relations between the two countries."

The Award Italy in the World,whose first edition was made in 1994, in New York, carries out anarticulated project, tended to lead to confrontation in the world of Italian culture, including that of business. The highlight of this encounter between cultures, and the testimony of the prestige of Italian culture in the world, and the interest that other nations have marched for Italy, is the intent proposed for “ Italy in the World Award”.
The award ceremony in Moscow is linked to these major business initiatives developed by Luigi Cremonini in Russia: an adventure began with the first meat exports in 1985.

Cremonini Group in 1998 has also launched a platform for distribution of food products for the Russian market, where it operates under the trademark MARR Russia, coming to realize in 2008 132.1 million euros in turnover.
In 2006, with a total investment of around 90 million euros, Cremonini has started building in Moscow, on a property of 25,000 sq m in Odinzovo,  a new distribution platform and
in 2007 , a food manufacturing plant for hamburgers with the capacity to produce over 25,000 tons of processed meat a year. The inauguration of the plant is expected by the end of 2009. With this new initiative, the Cremonini Group expects to achieve in Russia, from 2010, a total annual turnover exceeding 180 million euros.
Cremonini, with over 9,500 employees, with a total turnover in 2008 of 2.676,6 billion of euros, is one of the most important food groups in Europe and operates in three business areas: production, distribution and catering.
The Group is leader in Italy in the production of beef and processed meat (Inalca JBS and Montana) and as foodservice marketer and distributor of food products (MARR).

It also has a significant presence in the catering concession on board trains, railway stations, airports and highways areas (Chef Express). And finally it is present in the catering business with the chain of steakhouse (Roadhouse Grill).
