The "Bridge of Unity" from yesterday allows the cars to cross the border between Mozambique and Tanzania at the opening ceremony was attended by the chiefs of the two countries, both engaged in the difficult effort to modernize the infrastructure and fostering economic development. 720 meters long, the bridge runs along the Ruvuma River, so far crossed only by ferry or boat.

The costs of construction, equivalent to about 28 million, were divided between Mozambique and Tanzania in half. "It was hard to imagine - said the president of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, during the opening ceremony - two poor countries were able to create a work so important."

The road that leads to the Mozambique border is a bumpy track during the rainy season almost always flooded.

After the civil war ended in 1992 and a first phase of stabilization in recent years in Mozambique have been carried out major infrastructure works.

This is the case of a bridge over the Zambezi River in the central region of the country, and a new road that crosses the border with Malawi. This year should be called the tender to upgrade the coastal road that cuts the Mozambique from north to south: the estimated value of work is around 400 million.
